Standard Web GUI Flashing Method
- Download
openwrt-ipq806x-generic-netgear_r7800-squashfs-factory.img. - Log into Netgear Genie web GUI at
192.168.1.1> Advanced > Administration > Router Update. - Upload the
factory.imgfile and accept the non-Netgear firmware warning.
TFTP Unbricking & Firmware Recovery
If flashing fails, Netgear includes a hardware TFTP listener on boot. Set your PC to static 192.168.1.10, hold Reset while powering on until the power LED blinks amber, and push the image via tftp:
tftp 192.168.1.1 -m binary -c put openwrt-factory.img
